Shanes Bio:

Shane currently works as a Housing and Health Lead, jointly employed by the Department of Health and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The role seeks to ensure that health and housing staff work collaboratively to provide the best and most appropriate housing solution for people with disabilities in Northern Ireland. He provides specialist advice, training and expertise to a range of staff involved in Housing & Health and supports the Chief Allied Health Professional Officer in responding to N.I. Executive business, Ministerial briefs and assembly questions. Prior to this he worked as Head of Occupational Therapy/Community Equipment Services in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (2014-2021) where he was accountable for the professional practice of Occupational Therapy clinicians across a range of programmes of care including: Acute/Rehabilitation, Adult Physical Disability, Dementia, Paediatric, Mental Health and Learning Disability Services. He was also responsible for the operational delivery of Community Equipment and Wheelchair services ensuring robust governance processes were in place to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality services. He has recently completed a regional Review of Assistive Technology and Equipment Services which aims to improve governance structures and commissioning arrangements across Northern Ireland.
